The School of Architecture students at the Royal College of Art were assigned with redesigning the Art Bar at the Royal college of Art using the existing inventory material of COS, the apparel store in Regent street. The Artbar is the place where all students meet to celebrate their student life. It has witnessed great moments since the College foundation in 1896 until today. The brief was to create a flexible space, with the existing inventory: metal bars, wooden storage, concrete planks..
The new design is based on one module of steel cube that varies in dimension between big, to sit in and small, to sit on. The neon colored cubic furniture flashes at night with the light effect of the projectors inducing a lovely game of light and patterns. The highly graphical black and white stripes floor/ ceiling adds additional energy to the enchanted space.
